A. niger Yang No. 2 was used throughout this study. The strain was stored at 5 ℃ on an agar slant. Before the experiment, it was transferred to a fresh agar slant and precultured for 7-14 d at 30 ℃. The medium used in this experiment contained (per dm3 of solution): 140 g sucrose; 10 g KH2PO4, 2.0 g NH4NO3; 250 mg MgSO4･7H2O; 14 mg MnSO4･5H2O; 21 mg FeC13･6H2O; deionized water.
Rotating Disk Contactor (RDC)
The reactor was a horizontal glass cylinder, 20 cm in length, 15 cm in diameter and about 3.5 dm3 in volume. Inside the RDC, the disks which were made of stainless steel mesh (1 mm in thickness and 14.8 cm in diameter) were supported by a shaft and aseptically rotated by a magnetic coupling. The mesh opening and the wire diameter were 1.5 mm and 0.35 mm, respectively. Air was supplied into the gaseous phase of the RDC by an air pump after being passed through an air filter and a humidifier.
